The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) branch of the Federal Parastatal and Private Sector Pensioners Association of Nigeria (FEPPPA) has announced plans to hold a nationwide protest starting from February 15, 2025, over what they describe as neglect by the current management of FAAN.
At a recent general meeting in Lagos, FEPPPA’s General Secretary, Mr. Emeka Njoku, expressed frustration over the FAAN management’s failure to meet with them to address their concerns. He highlighted several issues, including the cessation of medical support for pensioners and FAAN’s failure to adhere to a 2002 agreement that stipulates pension increases whenever salaries are raised.
Njoku revealed that despite writing to FAAN management and requesting meetings, their letters have been ignored. He stressed that the previous management used to engage with pensioners, but this has not been the case under the new leadership. If the management does not respond by February 15, the pensioners will mobilize for a nationwide protest.
In response, FAAN’s Managing Director, Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, acknowledged the pensioners’ concerns and expressed willingness to meet with them. She also mentioned that she had received the pensioners’ letter in October and had scheduled a meeting for December 19, 2024, but the meeting had to be postponed.
