PDP Leadership and Former Senate President Offer Condolences to Yobe Governor
On Tuesday, Umar Damagum, National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), led a delegation from the party’s National Working Committee and Board of Trustees on a sympathy visit to Yobe State Governor Mai Buni. The visit was in response to the recent attacks and flooding in the state.
On September 1, gunmen suspected of being Boko Haram insurgents attacked Mafa village in Tarmuwa Local Government Area, looting and setting fire to shops and homes. Additionally, flooding in Bade Local Government Area resulted in the deaths of at least 20 people, according to Chairman Babagana Ibrahim.
During the visit, Damagum praised Governor Buni for promoting unity and inclusiveness among the state’s residents despite political differences. He expressed the PDP’s solidarity with the people of Yobe, acknowledging the distress caused by the attacks and flooding.
Former Senate President Ahmad Lawan also visited Governor Buni to offer condolences. He prayed for the victims of both the Mafa attack and the floods and extended his sympathy to the affected families.
