Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has announced the dissolution of the 17 Local Government Transition Implementation Committee Chairmen, effective 6th September 2024. The decision was disclosed in a statement released on Friday night.

The Transition Implementation Committees were initially established on 9th June 2023 with a mandate to serve for six months. However, their tenure was extended multiple times. The Governor’s statement, signed by his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Dr. Gyang Bere, outlined the new administrative arrangements following the dissolution.

The statement indicated that the Directors of Personnel Management in the 17 local government areas are now tasked with overseeing the administration of the local governments until elections are held. The elections for the new chairmen and councillors are scheduled for 9th October 2024.

Governor Mutfwang expressed his appreciation for the outgoing Transition Committee Chairmen, acknowledging their exemplary leadership and the significant contributions they made towards the development of their communities.

“He commended the Transition Committee Chairmen for their dedication and the impact of their leadership on local development projects,” the statement read. The Governor praised their efforts and encouraged them to continue providing valuable advice to foster peace and unity within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Plateau State.

Mutfwang also urged the former chairmen to actively engage with their constituents to support the PDP’s success in the upcoming local government elections.

In his statement, Governor Mutfwang reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining an inclusive, transparent, and accountable government. He expressed gratitude to the people of Plateau State for their steadfast support and noted that the outcome of the PDP primaries for the chairmanship and councillorship elections demonstrates the strong connection between the people and the party.
