LASEPA Lifts Seal on Donald’s Fast Food After Agreement to Adhere to Environmental Laws
September 17, 2024.The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has lifted the seal on Donald’s Fast Food (De-Angels Night Club) in Lekki, owned by nightlife entrepreneur Cubana Chief Priest. The establishment was previously shut down due to multiple complaints of noise pollution and other environmental violations.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the Lagos State Commissioner for the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, confirmed the reopening of the business. According to Wahab, the owner has signed an agreement committing to comply with the state’s environmental regulations.
The commissioner noted that the establishment had been sealed in accordance with the Lagos State Environmental Management and Protection Law of 2017, specifically Part VI, Section 177. The agreement stipulates that the facility will operate strictly as a fast food restaurant and refrain from any nightclub or party-related activities, as the area is residential and such activities are prohibited by state law.
“Following the undertaking signed by the business proprietor, the Fast Food facility has been ordered unsealed,” Wahab stated. He further emphasized the Lagos State government’s commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy environment for all residents.
The sealing of Donald’s Fast Food had sparked attention due to its owner’s prominence in Lagos’ nightlife scene, but the new agreement aims to ensure the business operates within the bounds of the law going forward.
