Justice Haruna Mshelia, the Chief Judge of Borno State High Court, has been freed after being abducted by suspected Boko Haram terrorists. The abduction occurred on June 24, 2024, along the Biu-Damaturu-Maiduguri Road, where he was traveling with his wife, driver, and police orderly.
While Justice Mshelia has been released, sources confirm that his wife, Bintu Mshelia, and the driver remain in captivity. Tragically, the police orderly has been executed by the abductors.
A statement from Loyalnigerianlawyer.com, received yesterday, expressed relief at Justice Mshelia’s release: “Alhamdulillah (We give thanks to God), we have just received the news of the release (from BH captivity) of Justice Mshelia. May Allah Almighty protect us all from any form of mishap.” The legal community is welcoming this news and continues to pray for the safe return of the remaining captives.
