Tax Default: Kano Seals Grand Central Hotel and Four Other Businesses

The Kano State Board of Internal Revenue Service (KIRS) has sealed several businesses, including Grand Central Hotel, Nikita Textile Limited, Fursa Foods Limited, Next Door, and SKY, for failing to remit Pay As You Earn (PAYE) taxes and other liabilities.

The action was taken after the affected firms ignored multiple correspondences and reminders from the service. Following this non-compliance, KIRS obtained a court order to seal the premises of these businesses.

Among the businesses affected, Grand Central Hotel owes over N14 million in taxes, while Nikita Textile Limited has failed to pay over N229 million in taxes. Other firms were sealed for not remitting their expected tax payments.

The Director of Debt Management and Enforcement, Malam Ibrahim Abdullahi, emphasized that the KIRS is committed to blocking revenue leakages to ensure enhanced tax collection and compliance in the state. These businesses will remain sealed until they fully settle their tax liabilities.
