Ganduje Accuses Gov. Sule of Betrayal, Claims It Impedes North-Central Development: APC Forum Responds

Saleh Zazzaga, Chairman of the Forum, has criticized Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State for his recent endorsement of Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, suggesting that Sule’s actions are an act of “betrayal” and “mischief” against the North Central region. Zazzaga made these remarks during a press briefing in Jos on Saturday, asserting that Sule’s endorsement undermines the regional push for the return of the National Chairmanship position to the North Central.

According to Zazzaga, the endorsement of Ganduje by Sule, which came in the form of a courtesy visit to the party secretariat in Abuja on Friday, is driven by “selfish and personal interest” rather than a commitment to the North Central region, the All Progressives Congress (APC), or the administration of President Bola Tinubu. Zazzaga, a former member of the Presidential Campaign Council, expressed his dissatisfaction with Sule’s actions, questioning his dedication to equitable governance and regional representation.

Zazzaga accused Sule of not supporting Tinubu’s presidential bid from the start and allegedly working to obstruct Tinubu’s nomination in favor of another APC presidential candidate, as Sule was reportedly eyeing a vice-presidential slot with a different candidate. This, Zazzaga argues, reflects Sule’s lack of commitment to the progress of his state, the North Central region, and the APC.

“He has shown that he is not a man of equity and justice,” Zazzaga stated, emphasizing that Sule’s actions have been detrimental to both the APC and the North Central region. He criticized Sule’s leadership and suggested that his tenure has not been beneficial to the APC’s performance in Nasarawa State, highlighting the party’s poor showing in the 2023 elections.

“Governor Sule is not a founding member of the APC and lacks a deep understanding of the party’s progressive ideology,” Zazzaga added. He further claimed that Sule’s leadership in Nasarawa State has been underwhelming, pointing to poor electoral performance and questionable contributions to the state’s development.

Zazzaga urged North Central governors to distance themselves from Sule’s endorsement of Ganduje, accusing him of prioritizing personal gains over regional interests. He called for a unified stance among the North Central governors to counteract what he views as Sule’s self-serving actions and to uphold the interests of the region within the APC.
