The Edo State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal has announced its relocation from Benin City to Abuja, with the move set to take effect on Monday, January 27, 2025. This information was made public through a notice from the tribunal’s secretary, Mu’azu Bagudu.
The notice stated that the tribunal would now convene at the National Judicial Institute (NJI) on Airport Road in Abuja. Although no specific reasons were given for the relocation, it is speculated that the decision might be related to the recent violent disruptions by political actors during tribunal proceedings in Benin City since its resumption this year.
