In a major breakthrough in the fight against terrorism in the North-West region of Nigeria, military forces successfully neutralized several notorious criminals, including Ibrahim Nagure, Lawali Dodo, Kadiri, Jambaleri, and a prominent terrorist leader, Halilu Sububu. Sububu, responsible for multiple terrorist activities, including killings and abductions, was killed during a military operation aimed at curbing violent attacks in Zamfara and its surrounding areas.
Meanwhile, in Plateau State, military forces apprehended Hosseini Osman, a notorious terrorist kingpin, in Ganawuri village, Riyom Local Government Area. Osman, upon capture, confessed to organizing several deadly attacks, including a recent assault on Ganawuri village that resulted in the deaths of innocent civilians. He also admitted to being part of a local kidnapping syndicate involved in numerous abductions across the region.
Using information provided by Osman, troops swiftly mobilized to Kyaram village in Kanam Local Government Area, where they successfully rescued several kidnapped victims. The military’s quick response prevented further harm to the victims and dismantled a critical link in the local kidnapping syndicate.
In another operation, military sources confirmed that troops launched a strategic ambush on Boko Haram fighters fleeing from the Sambisa Forest towards the Mandara Mountains in Gwoza Local Government Area. This resulted in significant casualties among the fleeing terrorists and the seizure of a large cache of weapons and ammunition, weakening the group’s ability to carry out further attacks.
In Kaduna State, military forces raided a suspected terrorist hideout in the Gobarawa Forest, located in the Birnin Gwari region. The raid forced the criminals to abandon their hideout, leaving behind five AK-47 rifles, 16 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, and five motorcycles. This operation further debilitated the terrorist network operating in the area.
Sububu, who had been a central figure in orchestrating violence in Zamfara State, was killed during an aggressive military clearance operation on Thursday. A reliable intelligence source confirmed that the operation led to the elimination of Sububu and several bandits, with troops confiscating firearms, ammunition, and motorcycles used by the terrorists. Sububu had been responsible for the killing of a drone pilot and an operative from the Department of State Services (DSS) two months ago, in addition to numerous abductions and murders in Zamfara.
The military’s recent successes are seen as a critical turning point in the fight against terrorism in Nigeria’s North-West region, with hopes that these operations will significantly reduce the frequency of violent attacks and improve security across affected areas.
