Shettima: Capital Market Vital for Tinubu’s Trillion-Dollar Economy Goal”

On Tuesday, Vice President Kashim Shettima emphasized the critical role of the Nigerian capital market in achieving the Federal Government’s goal of making Nigeria a trillion-dollar economy. Shettima made these remarks during a courtesy visit by the executive members of the Association of Capital Market Academics of Nigeria (ACMAN) at the State House, Abuja.

Shettima praised the expertise and contributions of capital market professionals, noting that their efforts are vital for transforming the nation’s economy. He underscored the importance of leadership in harnessing the skills and knowledge available to drive economic progress.

ACMAN President Prof. Uche Uwaleke expressed the association’s support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration and highlighted the need to strengthen the connection between academia and industry. Uwaleke also announced that Vice President Shettima was awarded the highest membership status of ACMAN—Fellow of Capital Market Academics—recognizing his role as Chairman of the National Economic Council. The award requires Shettima to deliver an inaugural lecture, which will mark the completion of his membership process.

The meeting included notable academics from various universities, reflecting the growing engagement between academic research and national economic policy.
