Lere Olayinka Slams Bauchi Governor Bala Mohammed, Dismisses His 2027 Presidential Ambition
Lere Olayinka, the Senior Special Assistant to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister on Public Communications and Social Media, has criticized Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, for lacking the leadership qualities to lead the Governors’ Forum of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Olayinka dismissed Mohammed’s 2027 presidential ambition, calling it “dead on arrival.”
In a statement released yesterday, Olayinka stated, “As for us, we are done with any object by the name Bala Mohammed. Reason is, we have better things to do and we won’t be available to be used by any ineffectual being to launch a dead-on-arrival 2027 presidential ambition.”
Olayinka further criticized Mohammed for his recent remarks about Barrister Nyesom Wike’s appointment as a Minister under President Bola Tinubu’s administration. According to Olayinka, Wike’s position is the only excuse that Mohammed uses to defend his inability to lead the PDP Governors’ Forum effectively. He also noted that Wike’s situation is not unique, as members of opposition parties have previously served as ministers in PDP-led governments.
Olayinka cited historical examples, pointing out that figures like the late Chief Bola Ige, Dr. Olu Agunloye, Mrs. Modupe Adesanya, and Ibrahim Dasuki Nakande had served in various ministerial capacities under PDP governments, despite being from opposition parties. He also reminded that Bala Mohammed himself was once a member of the ANPP before resigning to serve as a minister under the PDP government of President Goodluck Jonathan.
“Barrister Nyesom Wike, a member of the PDP, is currently serving as a Minister under the APC government of Tinubu,” Olayinka concluded, defending Wike’s decision and emphasizing that such political shifts have been commonplace in Nigeria’s history.
