The Kebbi State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of Muhammad Sani, also known as Kado, and another suspect in connection with the tragic shooting that occurred on January 14, 2025, during a wedding celebration in Unguwar Magaji, Koko/Besse Local Government Area. The incident resulted in the death of a nine-year-old boy, Al’amin Garba, and left a seven-year-old, Bello Shehu, critically injured.
The suspects reportedly fired shots during a cultural display at the residence of Bala Manu, with the shots hitting both children. Al’amin suffered a fatal injury to the ribs, while Bello was wounded in the head. The police swiftly apprehended the suspects and recovered the firearm believed to have been used in the incident.
The Kebbi State Commissioner of Police, CP Bello M. Sani, expressed regret and condemned the act, urging residents in possession of firearms to surrender them for public safety. He instructed the Deputy Commissioner of Police to fast-track the investigation and prosecution. The Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, assured that justice would be served and emphasized the need for community cooperation in addressing the illegal possession of firearms.
