Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State has issued a stern challenge to the newly deployed heads of security agencies in the state, urging them to intensify efforts in combating the ongoing banditry. During a courtesy visit to the Governor at the Government House, Aliyu emphasized the successes the state has achieved in its fight against banditry and called on the new security heads to build on these accomplishments.
The governor praised the security agencies’ past efforts and encouraged the new appointees to uphold the same levels of commitment, dedication, and selflessness demonstrated by their predecessors. He stressed the importance of maintaining peace in Sokoto State, describing the people as peaceful, law-abiding, and accommodating, and urged the security leaders to collaborate with the local population in order to achieve their security goals.
Aliyu assured the newly appointed security heads of his administration’s full support, emphasizing that their effective performance would be critical to the state’s overall development. He also acknowledged the persistent issue of banditry but reiterated that Sokoto’s people continue to hold firm to the peace for which the state is known.
The newly deployed heads of security agencies include Brigadier-General A. J. Mohammed, the new Garrison Commander of the 8 Division, Nigerian Army, Sokoto; Group Captain U. S. Maibuhu, the Commander of 119 Composite; Lawal Idris, Controller of the Nigeria Correctional Service in Sokoto; Usman Ishaq Alfadarai, Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps; Ali Usman, State Coordinator of the Defence Intelligence Agency; and Yusuf Musa Bage, State Comptroller of the Nigeria Immigration Service.
In response, the security heads commended the governor for his proactive measures in tackling security challenges across the state. They also acknowledged the governor’s efforts in implementing developmental projects, further underscoring the importance of collaboration between the government and security forces in ensuring a safer Sokoto.
