North East Development Commission Plans Health Insurance for the Less Privileged

The North East Development Commission (NEDC) has announced plans to enroll less privileged individuals in its health insurance scheme, particularly targeting those affected by insurgency in the North-East region. This initiative was discussed during a meeting with the National Population Commission (NPC), which will assist in providing necessary data for effective planning and development.

Alhaji Mohammed Alkali, CEO of NEDC, emphasized the importance of this health insurance scheme for vulnerable families impacted by Boko Haram insurgencies. He also noted that the NEDC and NPC are working together to use data effectively to address regional humanitarian challenges.

Additionally, NEDC is organizing a climate change summit in early September to address natural disasters like flooding, which has significantly displaced people in the region. An MOU is also expected to be signed between NEDC and NPC to formalize their collaboration.
