President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero, has stated that the union will not be intimidated by external pressures following his appearance at the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) headquarters in Abuja on Thursday. Ajaero was questioned by the police regarding allegations of terrorism financing, cybercrime, subversion, criminal conspiracy, and treasonable felony.
Ajaero arrived at the IRT office at 10:17 a.m. and left shortly after 11:15 a.m., accompanied by prominent human rights lawyer Femi Falana (SAN), activist Deji Adeyanju, and other senior NLC officials. Speaking to journalists at the Labour House after his police appearance, Ajaero asserted that the NLC remains committed to defending workers’ rights and will not be swayed by intimidation.
He emphasized that the allegations against him and the NLC are baseless and underscored his commitment to the labour movement, drawing on past experiences of facing similar challenges. Ajaero reaffirmed the NLC’s dedication to advocating for workers’ welfare and maintaining unity within the union despite the ongoing scrutiny.
