Mr. Sesi Whingah, the representative for Badagry Constituency in the House of Representatives, has reassured his constituents that Nigeria’s borders will soon be reopened for commercial activities. This promise was made during a Badagry Stakeholders and Youth Engagement event held on Saturday, themed “Charting A Prosperous Future for Badagry: Unlocking Potential, Empowering People, and Accelerating Progress.”
Whingah addressed concerns regarding the impact of closed borders on local commerce and incomes, stating, “The government is working on ways to improve internal revenue collection. We believe that reopening the borders is a necessary step that will benefit our community. The current administration is committed to this change, and we understand the hardships our constituents are facing.”
In addition to the border issue, Whingah discussed other local development plans, including electrification efforts. He assured residents that staff from the Rural Electrification Agency will soon address power supply issues in various Badagry communities.
On the topic of roadblocks along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway, Whingah criticized the numerous checkpoints as detrimental to the region’s development. He emphasized, “The multiple checkpoints along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway are a barrier to progress. These roadblocks discourage tourists and investors, which hinders development. I have raised this issue in the House, and we must address it to make Badagry a more inviting place for visitors and businesses.”
Whingah’s engagement aimed to highlight and address key issues affecting Badagry, including economic challenges and infrastructure development, as part of his commitment to enhancing the region’s growth and prosperity.
