The Nigeria Police Force has announced a N20 million bounty for information leading to the arrest of two individuals accused of plotting to overthrow Nigeria’s democratically elected government. The suspects are identified as British national Andrew Wynne, also known as Andrew Povich, and Nigerian citizen Lucky Obiyan.
Force Spokesperson Muyiwa Adejobi detailed the accusations against Wynne, alleging that he was involved in creating a network of sleeper cells intended to destabilize the government. Wynne is accused of renting space at Labour House and establishing a school as a cover for his activities. He reportedly mobilized billions of naira to local collaborators, inciting them to violently storm police stations and military barracks to create a scenario that could lead to international condemnation of the Nigerian government. These actions, according to Adejobi, violate the Terrorism (Prevention) Act 2011 and other relevant laws.
Both Wynne and Obiyan are said to have fled the country.
In a Special Police Gazette Bulletin released on Monday, the police announced a reward of N10 million for information leading to the arrest of each suspect. The bulletin includes contact details for reporting tips:
