The Ekiti State Bureau of Tourism Development’s Director-General, Mr. Wale Ojo-Lanre, has shared the discovery of a mysterious and captivating ecotourism site in Ayegbaju-Ekiti, which has sparked great excitement. The site was unearthed by engineer Michael Ale, an environmental development expert and former president of the World Water Council in Paris, within a privately-owned agro-tourism farm enclave.
The site is home to a truly unique natural spectacle—an incredible union between a tree and a palm tree, now famously known as the ‘Mystery of Ayegbaju’s Tree of Love.’ This natural bond is far from the parasitic or saprophytic relationships seen in many other species. Instead, the bond between the two trees is described as symbiotic, representing resilience, unity, and coexistence.
In an awe-inspiring twist, the tree wraps itself around the palm in a protective embrace, and their roots intertwine deeply, nourishing and supporting each other. Even when a fire ravaged the site, the tree bore the brunt of the flames, shielding the palm.
