Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has given a firm assurance to residents that the ongoing construction of the General Hospital in Ojo will be completed by December 2025. During an on-the-spot inspection of the project site on Tuesday, Sanwo-Olu set a 12-month deadline for the contractor, urging them to ensure timely completion of the facility.
Governor’s Tour of the Project Site
Accompanied by his Deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, and other members of the state cabinet, Sanwo-Olu visited the project site and was welcomed by Ojo residents and traditional leaders. The hospital, being developed along the Lagos-Badagry corridor on a 6.5-hectare plot, is expected to significantly improve healthcare services in the area.
A 280-Bed Multi-Specialist Hospital
The Ojo General Hospital, which is slated to have 280 beds, is part of Sanwo-Olu’s efforts to address the growing healthcare needs of Lagos West Senatorial District. When completed, it will be the largest healthcare facility in the district, complementing the existing primary and secondary care centers in the zone.
The hospital will be strategically located near the Ojo military cantonment, Lagos State University, and the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (Blue Line), ensuring easy accessibility for residents and surrounding communities. The facility is designed to provide a wide range of medical services, including pediatrics, oncology, gynecology, and accident and emergency care, among others.
Facilities and Features
In addition to medical departments, the project will feature four blocks of doctors’ residences, each with eight three-bedroom apartments, totaling 64 apartments for medical personnel. Other key facilities include:
- Delivery theatres
- Surgical wards
- Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
- Dialysis center
- Central laboratory
- Morgue
- Pharmacy
- Bank
- Parking lot
Sanwo-Olu emphasized that the development of the hospital will offer residents an improved care experience, addressing the previously limited medical options in the area. “This project will provide modern healthcare facilities and serve as a hub for advanced medical treatment,” he said.
Renewal of Infrastructure in Ojo and Badagry
The Ojo General Hospital is part of a broader initiative by the Lagos State Government to revitalize infrastructure in the area. Sanwo-Olu highlighted other ongoing projects in the region, including improvements along the Blue Line, which will terminate at Okokomaiko.
“We are renewing infrastructure in this area to show our commitment to fulfilling our promises to the residents of Ojo and the Badagry Division,” Sanwo-Olu stated.
Platinum Shopping Complex Project
In addition to the hospital project, Governor Sanwo-Olu also flagged off the construction of the Platinum Shopping Complex along LASU-Iyana Iba Road. The complex, which aims to take traders off the highway and provide affordable shopping spaces, will be developed in four phases. Each block of the shopping complex will feature 30 shops, for a total of 1,500 shops.
This initiative is expected to contribute to the socio-economic development of the region, providing economic opportunities for local traders and improving the aesthetic appeal of the environment. The shopping complex is being developed by Almera Global Investment Services, in partnership with the Lagos State Development and Property Corporation (LSDPC) and Ojo Local Government.

Sanwo-Olu explained that the development of both the Ojo General Hospital and the Platinum Shopping Complex reflects his administration’s commitment to infrastructure regeneration aimed at enhancing the quality of life for Lagosians.
“We are not only focused on improving infrastructure but also on enhancing the socio-economic power of our citizens,” he added.
With these projects, Governor Sanwo-Olu’s administration aims to make significant strides in improving healthcare access, business opportunities, and the overall development of the Ojo and Badagry areas.
