Michael Kayode, a 20-year-old defender, has completed his medical at Brentford following an agreement between the Premier League club and Fiorentina for his transfer. Kayode joins the Bees on loan with a €16m (£13.2m) option to make the deal permanent at the end of the season. The move comes after Kayode’s lack of regular playing time under Fiorentina’s coach, Raffaele Palladino, with just six starts in 12 competitive appearances this season.
Kayode had previously been a regular in Serie A, with 26 appearances last season, but has struggled to secure a starting spot this term. Born in Borgomanero, Italy, he began his youth career at Juventus before moving to Gozzano and Fiorentina, where he won youth titles. He has represented Italy at U-18, U-19, and U-21 levels, but remains eligible to play for Nigeria at senior level.
The transfer also signals potential movement at Brentford, with Danish full-back Mads Roerslev being linked to a loan move to Bundesliga side Wolfsburg.
