In a significant loss to the judiciary and the people of Kaduna State, former Chief Judge Justice Tanimu Zailani has passed away. He died in the early hours of Sunday in Kaduna after a brief illness, as confirmed by family sources.
Justice Zailani served as the head of the Kaduna State Judiciary from 2013 until his retirement in 2018. During his tenure, he was instrumental in overseeing the judicial branch of the Kaduna State Government, making notable contributions to the administration of justice in the region.
According to family sources, a funeral prayer will be held in Justice Zailani’s hometown of Rigachikun, located in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, where he will be laid to rest.
In related news, Waheed Ayilara, the Commissioner of Police in Akwa Ibom State, has passed away. Reports indicate that Ayilara died in the early hours of Thursday at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) in Ikeja.
Ayilara, who previously served as the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department, had a brief stint as acting Commissioner of Police in Lagos last year. His tenure in Lagos saw him take over from AIG Idowu Owohunwa.
His appointment as Commissioner of Police in Akwa Ibom followed his acting role in Lagos. Reports suggest that Ayilara underwent prostate cancer surgery on Wednesday, but unfortunately, he succumbed to the illness shortly after.
Both Justice Zailani and Commissioner Ayilara are remembered for their significant contributions to their respective fields, and their passing marks a period of reflection and mourning for their communities.
