Minister of Interior Reports N6 Billion Revenue for 2024
During the 2025 First Quarter Media Briefing in Abuja, the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, disclosed that the ministry generated over N6 billion in 2024 through various services provided to Nigerians.
The breakdown of the revenue includes:
- N3.22 billion from the expatriate quota
- N2.41 billion from marriage services
- N392,790 from citizenship services
- N12,350 from places of worship.
Tunji-Ojo also highlighted the significant promotions that took place in 2023 and 2024 within the ministry’s agencies. A total of 32,640 officers were promoted in 2023, while 20,851 officers were promoted in 2024. These promotions spanned across agencies like the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Federal Fire Service (FFS), and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
Moreover, the minister noted that 10,783 new recruits joined the agencies from 2023 to 2024, with 35% female inclusion in the recruitment exercises.
The minister also discussed ongoing disciplinary actions, revealing 118 cases of indiscipline across the agencies in 2024. Additionally, the ministry completed the first phase of its manpower audit, which revealed challenges linked to personnel migration (“japa”) but assured that these issues have now been addressed.
Tunji-Ojo emphasized the importance of performance contracts for heads of agencies, ensuring that everyone in the ministry works toward specific targets for better service delivery.
