A 50-year-old man, identified as Demola Akinloye, was brutally stabbed to death in his car on Chevron Drive in the Lekki area of Lagos. The attack occurred around 12:30 PM on Monday, according to Lagos State Police Command spokesman, SP Benjamin Hundeyin.
Hundeyin reported that Akinloye was targeted by four armed men traveling in a white mini bus. The assailants shot and then stabbed him while he was driving his black Toyota Corolla near the Bourdillon Court Estate gate.
Police arrived at the scene, recovered a spent cartridge, and transported the deceased’s body to a morgue in Ajah, Lagos State for preservation and autopsy. The investigation will be handed over to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) at Panti-Yaba for further inquiry.
Further investigation by our correspondent revealed that Akinloye was the first son of Tijani Akinloye, the Ojomu of Ajiran land in the Ajiran community of Agungi Area, Lekki.
In response to the incident, the estate community has issued a notice advising residents to avoid the area where the attack occurred. The notice read:
“This is to notify all residents that the Ajiran (Agungi) king’s son was assassinated today along Chevron Drive (close to Ebano Supermarket) this morning. We therefore urge our esteemed residents to avoid the Chevron area, Agungi, and Ajiran for their safety.”
