Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, has strongly condemned the brutal murder of 24-year-old Salome Adaidu, allegedly by her estranged lover in Karu, Nasarawa State. Salome, a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), was serving at Nicon Insurance in Abuja at the time of her tragic death.
In a statement released on Tuesday by her Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Jonathan Eze, the minister expressed deep shock over the incident and called for swift justice for Salome and her family. Imaan described the killing as “senseless and brutish,” highlighting that such acts have no place in a civilised society.
The minister stressed the need for urgent measures to protect women and girls across the country. “As a mother, I have not been able to come to terms with the senseless killing and dismembering of the body of a promising lady, Miss Salome Adaidu,” she said. She urged parents and communities to take responsibility for the safety of women, girls, and children, encouraging vigilance and reporting of suspicious activity.
Imaan also emphasized that the right to life is a fundamental human right that must be protected. She called for a thorough investigation into the circumstances of Salome’s death and for the perpetrator to be held accountable. The minister reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to supporting Salome’s family during this difficult time and reiterated the call for an end to violence against women and girls in Nigeria.
