The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secured all 260 ward councillorship seats in Enugu State during the local government council elections held on Saturday. This was announced by Prof. Christian Ngwu, Chairman of the Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC), who also stated that the PDP had won all 17 chairmanship positions across the local government areas.
Ngwu explained that the delay in announcing the councillorship results was due to the commission’s careful scrutiny to ensure there were no errors or breaches of the electoral law. He emphasized that the election was peaceful, fair, and credible, with all 17 political parties provided a level playing field during the polls.
ENSIEC plans to issue Certificates of Return to the winners of the chairmanship and councillorship seats in the near future. Ngwu noted that there were no significant reports of violence or disturbances during the elections.
