The Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA) has confirmed the tragic loss of four lives in a road accident on the Agaie-Lapai Road on Sunday. The crash involved three trailer trucks, one of which was transporting cattle and goats.
According to Alh. Abdullah Baba-Arah, the Director-General of NSEMA, two people died instantly, while the other two succumbed to their injuries later in the hospital. Additionally, 13 people were injured and taken to Agaie General Hospital for treatment. The accident also resulted in the death of over 35 cattle.
The cause of the accident was attributed to dangerous overtaking, which led to a head-on collision. Rescue operations were carried out by NSEMA’s Agaie desk officer and volunteers. Baba-Arah urged motorists to be cautious and adhere to traffic rules to prevent similar accidents in the future.
