Breaking News: Police Summon NLC President Joe Ajaero and Secretary for Further Inquiry

The Nigeria Police Force has summoned Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) President Joe Ajaero and General Secretary Emma Ugboaja to appear at the Force Headquarters on September 5, 2024. This latest summons follows Ajaero’s recent compliance with a previous police invitation concerning serious allegations.

Less than 24 hours after Ajaero responded to an earlier invitation related to accusations of criminal conspiracy, terrorism financing, treasonable felony, subversion, and cybercrime, the Nigeria Police Force has issued a new summons. This time, both Ajaero and Ugboaja are called to address allegations of criminal intimidation, conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace, and malicious damage to properties.

The invitation comes from the Force Intelligence Department (FID) of the Nigeria Police Force, indicating an escalation in the ongoing tensions between the NLC leadership and Nigerian authorities. The NLC has been actively challenging government policies and actions that it perceives as harmful to Nigerian workers and the general public.

This development reflects the intensifying friction between the NLC and the government, highlighting the current climate of heightened scrutiny and conflict between the two parties. Further details on the situation are expected to emerge as the September 5th meeting approaches.
