Tijjaniyya Sect’s 39th Annual Maulud Celebration Held in Kano
The Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano was filled with thousands of participants from across Nigeria and beyond as the Tijjaniyya Islamic sect marked its 39th annual Maulud celebration. The event honored Sheikh Ibrahim Niass, a revered Sufi scholar, and showcased the unity and dedication of the Tijjaniyya community.
Vice President’s Commendation
Vice President Kashim Shettima, represented by Babagana Fannami, praised the Tijjaniyya sect for its unwavering commitment to the true teachings of Islam over the past century. He commended the sect’s guiding principles of peace, unity, and adherence to Prophet Muhammad’s teachings while urging Muslims to emulate these values and reject extremism.
Governor and Emir Celebrate the Sect’s Contributions
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, the event’s chief host, lauded the Tijjaniyya sect for fostering peaceful coexistence with other Islamic sects in Nigeria. He expressed gratitude to attendees who traveled from far and wide for the celebration.
The National Leader of the Tijjaniyya in Nigeria, Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II, led prayers for the unity of Muslims worldwide and encouraged tolerance and harmony among people of different faiths.
Security Concerns Addressed
In the days leading up to the event, the Kano State Police Command raised concerns about potential security threats at strategic locations in the state. While the state government dismissed the warnings as unfounded, the police clarified their role in maintaining security at the venue.
Police officials also urged attendees to remain vigilant, citing reports of planned criminal activities, including phone theft disguised as charging services near the event grounds. Despite these concerns, organizers reassured participants of their commitment to ensuring a peaceful and successful Maulud.
The celebration highlighted the Tijjaniyya sect’s dedication to promoting Islamic values, unity, and peaceful coexistence within Nigeria and beyond.
