The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced the addition of Slovenian fitness trainer Tomaz Zorec to the technical staff of the Super Eagles. Zorec will assist caretaker coach Augustine Eguavoen in preparing the team for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda.
On Monday, the NFF revealed the full lineup of the caretaker technical crew for the Super Eagles. Alongside Zorec, the team will be supported by Rangers’ coach Fidelis Ilechukwu and Remo Stars’ coach Daniel Ogunmodede, who have been appointed as assistant coaches. Abiodun Baruwa will continue in his role as the goalkeeper trainer, while Eboboritse Uwejamomere will serve as the match analyst.
As preparations intensify, seven players have already arrived at the Super Eagles’ training camp in Uyo. Notable early arrivals include Captain William Troost-Ekong, Ademola Lookman, Taiwo Awoniyi, and Ola Aina. They were joined on Monday morning by Olisa Ndah, Semi Ajayi, and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru.
Caretaker Head Coach Augustine Eguavoen has called up 23 players for these crucial qualifiers. The Super Eagles will begin their campaign with a home match against Benin Republic in Uyo at 5 p.m. on Saturday. They will then travel to Kigali to face Rwanda at the Amahoro Stadium on Tuesday, with kickoff scheduled for 3 p.m. Rwanda time (2 p.m. Nigeria time).
The upcoming fixtures are pivotal as the Super Eagles aim to secure their place in the 2025 AFCON tournament.
