The Osun State Police Command has launched an investigation into the stabbing death of Paul Thinker, a 200-level Computer Science student at Bowen University, Iwo. The tragic incident occurred on Wednesday night, January 22, 2025, and was reported to the Iwo Divisional Police Headquarters shortly before 11:00 PM.
In an exclusive statement to Sunday PUNCH, the command’s spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed that the case was brought to their attention by Akindoyo Joseph, the Chief Security Officer (CSO) of Bowen University. According to the report, Paul Thinker was fatally stabbed by unidentified individuals under circumstances that remain unclear.
“Upon receiving the report, our detectives were immediately dispatched to the scene,” Opalola stated. “The items recovered at the scene include a cap, slippers, handset, earpod, and power bank. The deceased’s body has been deposited at the university’s mortuary. Investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend those responsible for this heinous act.”
The tragic death of Paul Thinker has sent shockwaves through the Bowen University community and beyond. Students and staff are grappling with the loss of a promising young man who was just beginning to chart his future in the field of Computer Science.
Efforts to obtain an official statement from the university have so far been unsuccessful. Calls to the Public Relations Officer, Havillah Sam Aliyu, have gone unanswered, and text messages have not been returned at the time of this report.
