Police Arrest 35 Kidnappers and Armed Robbers in Kano

The Kano State Police Command has announced the arrest of 35 individuals implicated in a range of criminal activities, including armed robbery, kidnapping, theft, drug dealing, and fraud. The arrests were made in various operations conducted across the state.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Haruna, revealed these developments during a press briefing at the police headquarters in Bompai, Kano, on Monday. Haruna highlighted the significant recovery of items linked to these crimes, which include weapons, stolen vehicles, solar batteries, mobile phones, and counterfeit currency.

Key arrests include:

  • Armed Robbery: Five suspects were apprehended on August 12 in connection with a robbery at Hotoro Quarters, Kano. Authorities recovered a motor vehicle and a locally made gun from the suspects.
  • Kidnapping: Two individuals were arrested on July 18 after the successful rescue of two kidnapped victims from a forest in Gubuchi Village, Makarfi LGA, Kaduna State.
  • Theft: Five suspected thieves were detained on August 27 in Warawa LGA, Kano, with five solar batteries in their possession.
  • Mobile Phone Robbery: Two suspects were arrested on August 26 in Dorayi Quarters, Kano. They were found with a sharp knife and a stolen mobile phone.
  • Drug Dealing: Three individuals were arrested on August 26 in Yan-tagwage Quarters, Kano. They were found with 98 pieces of Exol tablets and a block of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.
