Benin City — Senator Monday Okpebholo, the governorship candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State, has pledged to enhance security and improve infrastructure in riverine communities if elected. Speaking during a ward-to-ward campaign tour, Okpebholo addressed residents of Ologbo Community in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area, where he outlined his plans for the region.
Promises of Improved Security and Infrastructure
During his visit to Ologbo, Okpebholo promised to bolster security in the area by ensuring that the Marine Police are fully equipped and their operations in riverine communities are strengthened. “Your community is a border town,” Okpebholo noted. “I will provide the necessary amenities so that you can carry out your businesses in a peaceful environment.”
The APC candidate also addressed concerns about land disputes, stating that he would work to return any land that has been taken from the community. “I will ensure that the roads in the community are tarred,” Okpebholo assured the residents. He also committed to providing soft loans and fishing equipment to support the local fishing industry.
Appeal for Support and Royal Blessing
At the Palace of the Enogie of Ologbo, His Royal Highness Prince Owenvbiugie Jason Akenzua, Okpebholo sought the monarch’s blessings and support for his candidacy. The endorsement from the traditional leader is seen as a significant boost for his campaign.
In a separate visit to Uteh Community, Okpebholo reiterated his commitment to addressing infrastructure needs, promising to focus on the major road that runs through the area.
