The Labour Party’s (LP) 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has appointed Ibrahim Umar as the new spokesman for the Peter Obi Media Reach (POMR). The announcement was made on Sunday by the immediate past spokesman, Yunusa Tanko, in an official statement.
Tanko, who recently assumed the role of interim National Coordinator of the Obedient Movement, expressed his confidence in Umar’s ability to steer the media arm of the movement. “Ibrahim Umar, a computer media analyst and graduate of Bayero University Kano (BUK), hails from Wase in Plateau State,” Tanko said. He further described Umar as a young, strong Obidient member from Nigeria’s North Central region and a key member of the Obi-Datti Media Group.
Tanko’s transition to National Coordinator of the Obedient Movement will see him overseeing the group’s activities both within Nigeria and internationally. He thanked the public for their continued support and emphasized the ongoing efforts to challenge the political status quo. “We appeal to the public to cooperate with these Nigerians in their new roles as we continue the struggle to dismantle the gang of political criminals holding our dear nation hostage,” he remarked.
Umar brings with him a wealth of experience in media and political communication, having actively contributed to the Obidient Movement, a group of supporters for Peter Obi’s 2023 presidential campaign. His expertise as a media analyst is expected to enhance the movement’s media strategy as it navigates Nigeria’s evolving political landscape.
With this new appointment, the Obedient Movement appears poised to strengthen its influence ahead of future political engagements, ensuring that the values and vision of Peter Obi continue to resonate with Nigerians across the country.
