Obaseki’s Wife Praises Tinubu’s Wisdom, Assures He Won’t Disrupt Edo Governance Ahead of Polls

Tinubu Will Not Destabilize Well-Governed State, Says Obaseki’s Wife

Betsy Obaseki, the First Lady of Edo State, has refuted claims that President Bola Tinubu plans to influence the upcoming gubernatorial election in Edo State.
Speaking ahead of the September 21 election, Mrs. Obaseki addressed allegations that Tinubu intends to use “federal might” to favor the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the polls. She dismissed these claims, asserting that Tinubu is above such tactics and is committed to democratic principles.

“President Tinubu is smarter and wiser. He is not at their level at all,” she said during an online interview. She also praised former President Muhammadu Buhari for using federal power only to protect voters, not to manipulate election outcomes.

Mrs. Obaseki emphasized that Tinubu, known for his reformist approach as the former governor of Lagos State, would not undermine the progress made in Edo State under her husband, Governor Godwin Obaseki. “Now the father of the nation, President Tinubu would not lend his support to efforts aimed at destabilizing a well-governed state, she added, expressing confidence that the democratic process would be respected.
