The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has expressed his commitment to driving development and infrastructure in Nigeria in 2025, emphasizing that the era of excuses is over. Wike made these remarks after receiving the Minister of the Year award at the This Day Award 2025 on Monday night. He thanked the convener, Nduka Obaigbena, for the recognition and praised the fairness of the award process.
Wike assured Nigerians that 2025 would bring more progress, with a focus on key developments, particularly in infrastructure, to support businesses in the country. He also extended gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for the opportunity to contribute to Nigeria’s growth.
Other significant awardees included Zenith Bank PLC, which won Bank of the Year, and Access Bank, which was named Global Bank of the Year. Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals took home the Company of the Year award, and MTN was recognized as Brand of the Year. Shell Nigeria PLC was honored as Investor of the Year, while Walter Akpani of Providous Bank received the Banker of the Year award.
Additionally, Senators Adams Oshiomole and Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan were named Senators of the Year, and the Lifetime Achievers Award went to Maiden Ibru and Mustapha Chike-Obi.
