Kaduna State Labour Party Reaffirms Support for National Chairman Julius Abure, Warns Against Anti-Party Activities

The Labour Party (LP) in Kaduna State has publicly reaffirmed its unwavering support for the party’s National Chairman, Barrister Julius Abure, while cautioning members against engaging in activities that could cause discord within the party ranks.

In an official statement released on August 29, 2024, the Kaduna State LP alleged that certain “selfish individuals and a suspended member” are attempting to manipulate party affairs for personal gain. The party leadership emphasized that such actions are unacceptable and urged all members to remain steadfast and united in upholding the party’s ideals and objectives.

The statement, jointly signed by the State Chairman Hon. Auwal Tafoki, Deputy Chairman Bulus Maisamari, Secretary Hon. Peter Hassan, and Chikun Local Government Area Chairman Yerima Abraham, conveyed a strong message of solidarity within the party’s structure in Kaduna State.

“The Labour Party in Kaduna State alongside the 23 Local Government Area Councils have passed a vote of confidence on the embattled National Chairman of our Party, Barrister Julius Abure. This affirmation is to encourage them to remain steadfast in discharging their constitutional responsibilities and not be swayed by unscrupulous elements aiming to disrupt the party,” the statement read.

The leaders asserted that there are no factions within the Kaduna State LP, describing the party as “one family, united under an indivisible body” and committed to making significant impacts in the state’s political landscape. They also highlighted the widespread belief among Nigerian youths and elders in the party’s ideology to usher in a new era for Nigeria, referencing the leadership of Dr. Peter Gregory Obi.

The Kaduna State LP expressed its primary focus on the forthcoming Local Government Elections scheduled for October 2024. The party has submitted its list of candidates to the Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission (Kad-SIECOM) and remains optimistic about securing major victories.

“At the moment, the Labour Party in Kaduna State, without any distraction, is primarily focusing on the forthcoming Local Government Elections slated for October this year. We are optimistic about our chances in winning major seats in the elections; therefore, distraction at the moment is not an option,” the party leaders stated.

The statement also included a call to the Executive Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, urging him to leverage his office to foster unity within the party at both state and national levels.

“We are calling on the Executive Governor of Abia State, Gov. Alex Otti, to use his office in uniting the party. By so doing, the Labour Party can become a force to reckon with, not only in Kaduna State but across the entire nation,” the statement added.

Addressing attempts by certain individuals to dominate party affairs, the Kaduna State LP leadership declared that efforts by those who contested elections under the party in 2023 to “pocket the party” have failed.

“We cannot claim ignorance of the fact that some selfish individuals who contested elections under the party in 2023 are trying everything possible to control the party in Kaduna State. This is an attempt that has already failed woefully,” the leaders affirmed.

The Kaduna State Labour Party’s strong reaffirmation of support for National Chairman Julius Abure and commitment to unity underscores its readiness to advance its political agenda and achieve success in the upcoming elections. The party’s leadership calls on all members and supporters to stay focused and work collaboratively towards building a stronger and more effective political force in Nigeria.
