Gunmen Abduct Daughter of Kano Businessman After Ransoming N8m

Gunmen, believed to be kidnappers, have attacked the residence of a prominent Kano businessman in Garo town, located in the Kabo Local Government Area of Kano State. During the assault, they abducted his daughter, Zainab, after taking ₦8 million from the family.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday when around 10 armed assailants stormed the home of Alhaji Auwal, a well-known figure in the area.

An anonymous source told Vanguard that the gunmen broke into the house by forcefully smashing a door. According to the source, three of the attackers were armed with firearms, while the others carried various weapons.

The attackers gathered the entire family together, instilling fear and panic among them. The family’s head pleaded for mercy, offering to comply with the kidnappers’ demands for money. In response, the assailants took ₦8 million from the family but still proceeded to kidnap their eldest daughter, a recent secondary school graduate, before fleeing.

As of now, the whereabouts of the kidnapped girl remain unknown, with the kidnappers yet to make contact with the family.

This incident follows the abduction and subsequent murder of Atiku Mu’azu, a former Permanent Secretary in Gombe State and ex-Chairman of the Gombe State Board of Internal Revenue Service. He was abducted and killed just two days earlier at his residence in Janbulo, Kano, after the kidnappers collected ₦10 million
