Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah, has extended his heartfelt congratulations to Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, on his inauguration as the 32nd President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA). In his congratulatory message, Governor Mbah described Osigwe as “a round peg in a round hole,” highlighting his suitability for the prestigious role.
Dr. Mbah, who is also a senior legal practitioner, expressed confidence in Osigwe’s ability to tackle the challenges facing legal practice and the justice sector in Nigeria. He urged the new NBA President to leverage his extensive experience and expertise to drive meaningful reforms within the association and beyond.
In a statement released on Friday, Governor Mbah remarked, “I join the rest of the NBA and other well-meaning Nigerians in congratulating Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, on his inauguration as the 32nd President of the NBA.”
“As a member of the Inner Bar, a former Secretary-General of the NBA, Chairman of the Unity Bar, and a consummate legal practitioner who has distinguished himself in his calling, Mazi Osigwe is purpose-built for the office he was overwhelmingly elected to occupy,” Mbah continued.
The governor commended Osigwe’s visionary leadership, referencing the new NBA President’s well-articulated blueprint for advancing the legal profession and the justice sector. Mbah expressed his belief that Osigwe’s plans resonated strongly with NBA members, leading to his decisive election victory.
“On behalf of the Government and the good people of Enugu State, I wish him the best as he undertakes this onerous task,” Mbah added.
Governor Mbah also called on members of the Bar and Nigerians at large to fully support and cooperate with Mazi Osigwe in his new role. He emphasized the importance of unity within the legal community to achieve the goals set out by the new NBA leadership.
