AS Roma Ends Contract with De Rossi

AS Roma has confirmed the immediate termination of Daniele De Rossi’s contract following a series of poor results this season. The announcement was made on the club’s official website early on Wednesday, September 18, 2024. The decision to part ways with De Rossi, who was appointed in January 2024 to replace José Mourinho, is described as being in the best interest of the team.

During his tenure, De Rossi managed 26 games across Serie A and the Europa League, securing 13 wins and suffering six defeats. Despite leading Roma to a sixth-place finish in Serie A last season and reaching the Europa League semifinal, where they were eliminated by Bayer Leverkusen, the club decided to make a change.

In their statement, Roma expressed gratitude to De Rossi for his passion and dedication, stating that he will always be welcome at the Giallorossi club. The club also mentioned that further communication regarding the team’s technical guidance would follow.

De Rossi was notably sent off in Roma’s 1-1 draw at Genoa on Sunday, leaving the club 16th in the Serie A table.
