Senator Ibikunle Amosun, the former governor of Ogun State, marked his 67th birthday by rallying support for the less privileged in Nigeria. The occasion saw Amosun present bags of rice and cash gifts to inmates in correctional centers across Ogun State, alongside children from Borstal Institutions, the Daniel Akintonde School for the Physically Challenged, and the Stella Obasanjo Children’s Home in Abeokuta, the state capital.
Amosun, who was represented by Alhaji Bola Adeyemi, emphasized that such gestures of support foster inclusiveness, promote love, and bring hope to those in need. According to a statement released by his media aide, Lanre Akinwale, Amosun’s initiative aligns with his commitment to supporting the less privileged, underlining his belief that every individual deserves love and care for a better society.
In his message, Amosun reflected on the significance of birthdays as a time for gratitude and sober reflection. He expressed appreciation for the gift of life and reiterated his dedication to helping those in difficult circumstances. “Senator Amosun believes that the less privileged deserve the love and support of all for a better society,” the statement noted.
The event also included an interfaith service at Amosun’s Ibara GRA residence in Abeokuta, attended by family, associates, and loyalists. The service featured sermons from Rev. Julius Ogunseye of the African Church and Imam Bashir Ibrahim of Unity Central Mosque. Both religious leaders encouraged attendees to maintain faith in God despite life’s challenges and praised Amosun for his unwavering commitment to charity, kindness, and humanitarian work.
Amosun’s supporters prayed for his continued good health, long life, and abundant blessings, acknowledging his selfless service to the community.
