Air Sierra Leone has resumed operations after over 15 years of inactivity, marking a significant milestone in the airline’s history. The airline has partnered with XEJet, a Nigerian private carrier, to offer scheduled flights between Lagos and Freetown, operating three times a week—on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
The inaugural flight, which carried 36 passengers, landed at Muritala Mohammed Airport in Lagos. Speaking at the event, Edgard Lacle, the airline’s General Manager, emphasized that the flight is aimed at fostering regional connectivity between Sierra Leone and Nigeria, noting the strong ties in trade and tourism between the two nations.
The flights are operated using an Embraer Regional Jet ERJ 145, with XEJet providing technical support and offering aircraft as part of their partnership. Emmanuel Iza, CEO of Air Sierra Leone, expressed the airline’s commitment to offering world-class service, with a focus on warmth, hospitality, and promoting Sierra Leone’s culture and values.
This partnership and the resumption of flights symbolize a major step for Air Sierra Leone in reconnecting the nation to the world and creating opportunities for both businesses and travelers. The initiative is seen as a reflection of the country’s aspirations to boost regional and international engagement.
