Terrorist Leader Bello Turji Signals Willingness to Surrender
Bello Turji, a notorious terrorist leader, has reportedly expressed a readiness to surrender following intensified military pressure.
The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, shared this development during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today program on Friday.
General Musa disclosed that recent military operations targeting Turji’s network have significantly weakened his influence. These operations have resulted in the elimination of his second-in-command and other key lieutenants. In response, Turji has released numerous hostages and is reportedly contemplating laying down his arms.
Musa acknowledged the challenges faced by the military in tracking Turji, emphasizing that his unpredictable movements complicate efforts to act swiftly on intelligence.
“They [the terrorists] operate within communities, and the locals often know them,” Musa explained. “But by the time information reaches us, sometimes it’s already too late. These delays make it difficult to apprehend him quickly.”
Despite these challenges, the military’s recent successes have put significant pressure on Turji’s network, leading to his apparent willingness to surrender.
“We have neutralized his second-in-command and most of his key lieutenants,” Musa said. “This has forced him to release many of his captives, and now he’s indicating that he wants to give up.”
While welcoming this development, General Musa stressed the importance of ensuring justice for the victims of violence. He emphasized that individuals responsible for crimes against innocent citizens must be held accountable, regardless of their willingness to surrender.
