The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has emphasized its unity and strength in the South-East, asserting that it is well-equipped to address any challenges in the region. Chief Ali Odefa, the party’s National Vice Chairman for the South-East, made this statement following a meeting of the Zonal Executive Committee (ZEC) at Government House, Enugu, on Friday.
The meeting was attended by Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State, who also serves as the party’s leader in the zone, along with prominent figures such as former Senate President Sen. Adolphus Wabara, Senate Minority Whip Sen. Osita Ngwu, and other National Assembly members, former governors, and ministers.
Odefa revealed that the meeting extensively discussed ways to restore the PDP’s fortunes in both the South-East and nationwide. He also warned against external influences seeking to disrupt the party’s affairs in the region, underscoring the party’s commitment to internal peace and stability.
The PDP also applauded the Court of Appeal’s ruling affirming Sunday Udeh-Okoye as the party’s National Secretary, in line with both the party’s constitution and the South-East ZEC’s position. The PDP reaffirmed its support for Udeh-Okoye, expressing confidence in the judiciary to continue delivering justice on the matter.
Additionally, the ZEC meeting adopted a zoning arrangement for national and zonal offices within the party, further solidifying the PDP’s commitment to unity and effective governance.
