Former Chelsea defender Glen Johnson has expressed his disappointment that the club missed out on signing Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen during the summer transfer window. Despite being linked to Osimhen throughout the summer, Chelsea failed to secure the 25-year-old striker, reportedly due to wage disagreements. Osimhen eventually joined Turkish club Galatasaray on a season-long loan from Napoli.
Johnson believes Osimhen would have been a crucial addition to Chelsea’s young squad, especially given the club’s heavy investment in young players who might not immediately make an impact in the first team. He remarked, “Osimhen was the big name they wanted and didn’t get,” highlighting the missed opportunity for Chelsea to bolster their attack.
