September 16, 2024: Portable Breaks Silence on Preacher Slapping Incident, Claims Self-Defence
Nigerian singer Portable has addressed the controversy surrounding his recent altercation with a preacher outside his bar in Sango, Ogun State.
In an Instagram post on September 16, 2024, Portable explained that he found the preacher’s behavior suspicious and alarming. He revealed that weeks before the incident, someone pretending to be a pastor had attacked his sister, which led him to suspect the preacher was part of a similar setup. “He was not a man of God… The way he acted was why I slapped him,” Portable stated, while apologizing for his actions.
The confrontation, which was captured on Instagram Live on September 9, 2024, featured Portable confronting and slapping the preacher, who he claimed was disturbing his customers and disrupting his business.
Despite Portable’s explanation, his actions have faced widespread criticism on social media, with many condemning his response as unacceptable and disrespectful.
