Peter Obi has raised serious concerns about Nigeria’s current state of affairs, highlighting the country’s dire situation with extreme hunger and widespread poverty. In his recent interview with News Central TV, he criticized the government for what he describes as wasteful spending, including the purchase of a new presidential jet for $100 million, ₦21 billion for renovating the vice president’s lodge, and ₦15 billion for the construction of the National Assembly clinic.
Obi argued that such expenditures are inappropriate given the country’s significant issues with extreme hunger, which affects 38 million people, and its status as the poverty capital of the world. He stressed that addressing critical areas such as health, education, poverty alleviation, and security should be the government’s focus.
Furthermore, Obi proposed that investing in agriculture could address hunger, unemployment, and inflation. He also suggested the possibility of forming a coalition with other opposition parties to address these pressing issues and improve the situation before the 2027 presidential election.
