**Zamfara Governor Reaffirms Commitment to Healthcare, Inaugurates Renovated Maru General Hospital**
**Maru, Zamfara State, September 9, 2024** – Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has reiterated his administration’s dedication to prioritizing projects that directly benefit the people, particularly in the healthcare sector. The governor made this statement during the inauguration of the renovated and rehabilitated General Hospital in Maru Local Government Area.
In a statement released by his spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, on Sunday, Governor Lawal revealed that the government is actively working to renovate and equip all general hospitals across the state’s 14 Local Government Areas. The Maru General Hospital is the latest facility to benefit from this initiative, with modern infrastructure and advanced medical equipment now in place.
Governor Lawal emphasized that the renovation project is aimed at providing state-of-the-art healthcare facilities to ensure that quality medical services are both accessible and affordable to the people of Zamfara.
“The renovation works at Maru General Hospital include upgrading facilities to meet modern standards, allowing the people of Maru and nearby communities access to decent healthcare,” the governor said. “We have integrated advanced medical technologies and systems, ensuring the hospital is equipped to handle a range of medical conditions, from routine care to complex surgeries.”
He added that the hospital’s staff are now better equipped to provide services that meet the highest healthcare standards.
In addition to the physical renovation, Governor Lawal announced the installation of a 39-kilowatt solar power system to provide a reliable power supply to the hospital. This is essential for the continuous operation of medical equipment and patient care. Furthermore, 35 streetlights have been installed around the hospital premises to enhance security and improve visibility.
“I sincerely hope that the people of Maru and the entire Zamfara State will fully utilize these upgraded facilities,” the governor stated, noting that the Ministry of Health has been instructed to maintain the hospital’s operations and upkeep.
The renovation of Maru General Hospital is part of a broader effort by the Zamfara State government to improve healthcare infrastructure across the state, ensuring that residents have access to essential medical services in a secure and modern environment.
