Gunmen Attack Rivers APP Secretariat, Shoot Security Guard

The recent attack on the African Peoples Party (APP) secretariat in Rivers State, which occurred at midnight, has escalated concerns following a bombing at the same location less than a month ago. The attack, which left a security guard injured, has added to the party’s challenges as it prepares for the upcoming local government elections.

Sunny Wokekoro, the state chairman of the APP, addressed journalists at the scene on Wednesday, expressing uncertainty about the details of the shooting. He confirmed that the injured security guard is receiving medical treatment but noted that the police have yet to make any progress in identifying the culprits behind the previous bombing incident.

Wokekoro voiced concerns about the effectiveness of the police investigation, as no findings have been disclosed so far. Despite the ongoing violence, he emphasized that the APP remains committed to participating in the forthcoming local government elections, undeterred by these attacks.

Hospital staff denied journalists access to the injured guard, but Wokekoro reiterated the party’s resolve to continue its activities despite the threats they face.
