The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the death of a 35-year-old man, Emmanuel Urhobocha, in Sango-Ota, located in the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State. The tragic incident, which has raised concerns among residents, was reported on Friday, prompting an investigation by the local authorities.
According to Omolola Odutola, the Public Relations Officer of the Ogun Police Command, the deceased was discovered lifeless in his apartment, lying face down with a container of insecticide found next to his body. The discovery was made around 9:00 a.m. when the police were alerted to a possible incident at the residence.
Odutola explained that the incident was brought to the attention of the police by Obabiyi David, the roommate of the deceased, who had reported unusual behavior exhibited by Urhobocha. David recounted how Urhobocha had been acting erratically prior to his death and had even attacked him with a knife. Fortunately, David managed to escape unharmed and immediately reported the troubling behavior to the Sango-Ota Police Division.
Following the report, a police team was dispatched to question Urhobocha regarding the alleged attack. However, upon arriving at the apartment, the officers found the door locked from the inside. After several unsuccessful attempts to gain entry, the officers were forced to break down the door, only to discover Urhobocha’s lifeless body inside.
Odutola provided further details, stating, “He was discovered dead in the apartment, with a container of insecticide found next to his body.” The police promptly transported Urhobocha to a nearby hospital in an effort to save his life, but unfortunately, the attending doctor pronounced him dead on arrival. His body has since been deposited in the morgue, where an autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
The police spokesperson also emphasized that an investigation is currently underway to unravel the circumstances surrounding Urhobocha’s death. Authorities are exploring all possible angles, including the possibility of foul play, to ensure that the truth is uncovered.
The incident has left the local community in shock, with many residents expressing concern over the bizarre circumstances of the death. The police have urged anyone with relevant information to come forward to assist in the ongoing investigation.
