Chelsea’s Group Stage Rivals Confirmed for 2024/25 Europa Conference Leagu

Chelsea Football Club is on the cusp of making history as they enter the UEFA Europa Conference League, aiming to become the first team to win all UEFA club competitions. This marks the Blues’ debut in the competition, adding another milestone to their illustrious European journey.

Chelsea secured their place in the Europa Conference League despite a surprising 2-1 defeat to Servette in Switzerland on August 29, 2024. The defeat came after a 2-0 victory at Stamford Bridge in the first leg, allowing Chelsea to advance to the competition with a 3-2 aggregate win.

The Europa Conference League has undergone a significant format change this season. The traditional group stage has been replaced with a new 36-team league phase. The draw for the competition has divided teams into six pots, with each club scheduled to play six matches: three at home and three away, against one opponent from each pot.

Pot 1 Fixtures for Chelsea:

  • Chelsea vs Gent (Home)
  • Chelsea vs Heidenheim (Away)
  • Chelsea vs Astana (Away)
  • Chelsea vs Shamrock Rovers (Home)
  • Chelsea vs Panathinaikos (Away)
  • Chelsea vs Noah (Home)

In this new format, the top eight teams from the league phase will progress directly to the Round of 16. Teams finishing in the ninth to 24th positions will compete in a play-off round in early 2025, while the remaining teams will be eliminated from the competition.

Chelsea’s participation in the Europa Conference League offers them an opportunity to add another prestigious trophy to their cabinet and solidify their status as one of the premier clubs in European football. Fans and analysts will be closely watching their campaign as the Blues aim to etch their name in history.
